About Royal Fireworks Press and Publishing for Gifted Education

As a gifted education publisher, our goal for more than thirty years has been to provide at affordable prices books that enable teachers, administrators, and parents to enrich the experience and life opportunities of gifted and talented children.

During this time, other companies publishing in gifted education have come and gone. All have experienced the fundamental truth of the market place: there are not enough gifted children to make publishing for them economically attractive to those who measure their achievement by dollars sold, units shipped, and profits reported to shareholders. The major publishing conglomerates now measure their income in tens of billions, and yet these companies do not publish in the field of gifted education.

There is not enough money to go around, and the gifted frequently do not get their fair share. The programs are sparsely funded when they exist at all, and many parents cannot afford to supplement. We have always realized that all too often the needs of the gifted have to be met both in the regular classroom and by homeschooling, and we have published books and curricula at affordable prices that make this possible.

A Complete Language Arts Curriculum

Our English curriculum by Michael Clay Thompson has become the bedrock of truly rigorous gifted and talented programs throughout the country. It is a complete language arts curriculum teaching grammar, vocabulary, writing and poetry from elementary through secondary level with practice workbooks, teacher manuals and homeschool editions. We are proud to be Michael Clay Thompson's publisher and to be making such a valuable and esteemed addition to the teaching of today's gifted children. When this English curriculum is used in the regular classroom it has raised standards across the whole spectrum of abilities.

We believe in sharing his approach with as many people as possible; you will find Michael Clay Thompson's downloads here on the Royal Fireworks Press website, free of charge, to give you added resources, back-up information and introductions to his special perspective.

Michael Clay Thompson's workshops and presentations have brought his unique methods, and unbounded enthusiasm, for teaching English Language Arts, to hundreds of teachers. This year he will be presenting at gifted education conferences where Royal Fireworks Press also has a booth and where we are always pleased to meet teachers and parents to discuss the most suitable books for gifted children.

Homeschool Language Arts

Homeschooling is frequently the only option for parents of very gifted children who represent a challenge for several reasons. Our books and supplementary materials are designed to help parents of gifted children, not just in homeschool language arts but in many other subjects as well.

Novels

We are now offering more novels for young people at a time when the major international conglomerate publishers are decreasing the number of titles they produce and slashing the number that they will keep in print. We are concerned about language, situation, and values as well as the story when we evaluate novels for publication. The range of subjects and themes is vast.

What others say!

Don't just take our word for it, read what teachers and parents of gifted children say about our books in the endorsements section of the website.

We published one of the first magazines specializing in gifted education and you can obtain any of the 101 back issues of Our Gifted Children.

In a new series, the Royal Fireworks Monographs on Gifted Education are written by experienced educators for teachers, administrators, researchers, and sometimes for parents. They continue to offer thought-provoking insights into many issues of importance to gifted education.

Teachers and authors

If you have a book or project you would like to discuss, we are always pleased to hear from you. Normally we ask for the whole manuscript to be sent for appraisal, together with any other relevant information and illustrations.

Through good economic times and bad, through all educational cycles, through war and peace, the children keep coming, and some of them continue to be gifted. Our challenge is to continue to seek ways to engage the gifted children, to challenge them, to meet their needs and to help them develop their full potential. This is the crucial challenge we acknowledge as a company.
