“This is a very good fantasy novel with a unique twist. The book has interesting characters and unique features... I am anxious to read the sequel.” Debra Hasti, District Media Specialist, Rockford Schools
”I thought this is an amazing work of art. I think the idea of the place where there is breathable water was really cool"...from a 4th grade reader
This highly unusual adventure story is about gifted and talented students who are called upon to save their country from a cataclysmic disaster.
Fast-moving and original, it centers on Charlie Draper, a fourteen year old boy who has been struggling to fit in for his entire life. As an intellectually gifted child, Charlie has managed to hide his intelligence up to now, knowing its discovery would move his life even further from the appliance of normality he desires.
His boredom and frustration in regular public school has been building for years and finally explodes in Mr Tuttle’s classroom one morning. This leads to his suspension from school and subsequent psychiatric examination by Dr Whipshank, a man who will change his life forever.
Because of his extraordinary intellectual abilities, Charlie is invited to join The Brain Learning Trust (BLT), an extremely secret and elite school of gifted and talented students situated in an isolated ‘dome’. Charlie’s project becomes telekinesis and a fellow student, Leah, who has telepathic abilities, joins him in some hilarious experiments with flying objects.
After a period of training, and exercises in team-building, the students are sent by the government on a highly classified and dangerous trip to San Francisco to infiltrate an earthquake research facility over the San Andreas Fault where the operatives threaten global devastation by drilling to the Earth’s core. The team’s task is to pose as student interns and disrupt the whole operation. Nail-biting adventures follow.
