Submission of Manuscripts

EDUCATION: A primary concern of Royal Fireworks Press is the education of gifted children, adolescents, and adults, whether in a school or homeschool setting.

We will discuss non-fiction work with you in any stage of its development, but we must see a completed work to make a positive decision about works from authors who are new to us. Should you want to ask if we are interested in a work in progress, write a letter of inquiry to Charles Morgan.

MANUSCRIPTS: Please note that we will not open attachments to emails. We expect the work to be mailed to us as a word-processed hard copy. Should we want to publish your work you need to be able to make it available as ASCII files.

Your manuscript must include a cover letter and a one-page synopsis. Please understand that, like everyone else in publishing, we are very short on time and are unable to spend hours trying to figure out what a project is about. The faster we can make sense of a proposal, the quicker we can respond to it. We suspect that many worthy projects die because the author makes us spend too much time trying to figure out what he or she wants to accomplish.

We further expect that all finished works for publication will be carefully proofread, page numbered, labeled, and assembled.

It is also helpful if you tell us something about yourself and why you decided to write..

We will return manuscripts we reject if they come with return postage included.

Submitted work must be the author’s own and no part should have been taken from other authors without permission.

PLEASE GIVE US AS MUCH INFORMATION AS YOU CAN ABOUT THE POTENTIAL MARKET FOR YOUR BOOK. What makes it special. Who you expect it to appeal to and why.

FICTION FOR YOUNG ADULTS: Royal Fireworks Press publishes many novels for young people. We look first for good writing, good storytelling, a good sense of language, and a set of values we want to convey. We publish novels for young people of about nine years of age through high school level. We are looking for historical fiction, growing up, family relationships, and personal development. We are interested in novels that can be used in a school setting. We do not print novels that contain bad language or that glorify reprehensible behavior. Of primary importance to us are the values that a novel transmits to children, and a surprising number of people around the world respond to this concern.

We are not accepting any children’s short stories or picture books for the very young at this time.

We do not publish poetry.

FICTION FOR ADULTS: Through Silk Label Books, we publish a number of novels for adults. Here all restrictions about language, sex, and other behavior are removed. We are interested in the media potential of any work we take. But we will print a good book for adults even if we do not believe it will ever be made into a film.
