Tixe of Celedon: Science Fiction novels by Naida E Kirkpatrick
Celedon is in outer space and these stories are a wonderful introduction to science fiction.
It is a planet where people do not kill, and where they know nothing of what is beyond their forests and mountains. They do know there was a Beginning time, when the Earthlings came, leaving some high-tech equipment that proves very useful. As the stories in the series progress, the fearless Tixe, her brother and her friends have their eyes opened and experiences widened with the aid of a newly-arrived Earthling. But as time goes on there are others who pollute the skies and are making the planet uninhabitable.
Authork, Naida Kirkpatrick, lives in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She graduated from Ball State University, with a BS in education and later completed a degree in nursing from Purdue. She has taken several writing courses from The Institute of Children’s Literature and Long Ridge Writers Group and is the author of Adventure at Look Out Farm, about the Underground Railroad in the Civil War, also published by Royal Fireworks Press, and three books for children about ancient civilizations. She is the mother of five grown children and enjoys reading and biking.
She says: “The idea for the Celedon series grew gradually from little things: an “EXIT” sign, a small red-haired girl playing in the gym with her class and then I set about putting it into another world. Eventually, I wanted to say something about cleaning up the footprint of environmental pollution that we as human beings are leaving on our surroundings.”

But the red-head with an eye for adventure wants nothing less than extraordinary when she starts her apprenticeship with the Eye, the ancient monitor that allows her to see more than just the stars above. She gets her wish when Jeremy Butler of the Earth crashes his scout ship in Celedon and mistakenly commits a crime. A race for answers begins as Tixe tries to save Jeremy’s life and discovers that their pasts aren’t as different as they seem.
