The Local History Committee at the Goshen Public Library and Historical Society has produced, for the first time, a journal dedicated exclusively to the history of Goshen and the surrounding area. Articles in this inaugural issue of The History Journal include a detailed look at the Dutchess Quarry Cave site and the Ice Age artifacts that were discovered there; an account of the remarkable 1972 Goshen High School Football Team by Pete Croswell; an examination of a Horace Pippin painting and its relation to amateur boxing matches in Goshen by Salvatore LaBruna; and a history of Salesian Park by Ed Connor, village of Goshen Historian. Goshen’s equine tradition is represented with an article by Town of Goshen Historian Michelle Figliomeni on the exclusive Orange County Hunt Club and the fox hunts and other activities the group held in Goshen. Every article is complemented with rare color photos and illustrations, some published for the first time.
