Dr. Alexei Evsikov

Alexei Evsikov is a research biologist at the Veterans Administration. Dr. Evsikov received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in cytology and genetics from the Novosibirsk State University in Siberia and a Ph.D. in molecular genetics from the Institute of Molecular Biology and Genetics in Kyiv, Ukraine. He moved to the United States in 2000 and conducted research in embryology, genetics, and genomics at the Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor, Maine. He taught undergraduate and graduate courses in bioinformatics at the University of South Florida. His current research investigates the role of mobile genetic elements in development, evolution, and disease. He is an author of more than thirty articles, which have been cited more than 2,600 times by other scientific publications. Dr. Evsikov enjoys teaching bioinformatics to future scientists, including his own children.
