The Royal Fireworks Online Learning Community is excited to introduce creative writing courses for Fall Semester 2023! Designed to spark students’ imaginations and foster their love for storytelling, these courses offer a fantastic opportunity for children to explore their creative potential and develop essential writing skills.

Both courses are taught by expert instructor Dr. Amber Workman. With a Ph.D. in Hispanic literature and more than two decades of experience teaching Spanish, literature, history, and creative writing, Dr. Workman brings a wealth of knowledge to these courses. Her expertise ensures a supportive and enriching learning environment for your child.

✍️ An Introduction to Creative Writing (Ages 8-11)
Dates: September 5 – December 12 (one semester)
Class Meetings: Tuesdays, 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time

Course Highlights:

• Develops fundamental story-writing skills through techniques in plot, characterization, and setting
• Weekly creative writing assignments to hone writing abilities
• Culminates in a portfolio of original stories to showcase to family and friends

 

📝 An Introduction to Creative Writing (Ages 12-15)
Dates: September 5 – December 12 (one semester)
Class Meetings: Tuesdays, 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time

Course Highlights:

• Builds foundational writing skills through techniques in plot, characterization, and setting
• Weekly creative writing assignments to nurture creative expression
• Concludes with students having a portfolio of original stories
