Meet Our History Instructors! 🏛️
Dear Parents,
The Royal Fireworks Online Learning Community is thrilled to introduce you to three outstanding history instructors who will guide students through captivating historical journeys this year. Each brings a wealth of knowledge and a unique teaching style to our history courses, ensuring an enriching and memorable learning experience.
Dr. Thomas Milton Kemnitz is an accomplished historian and author with expertise in ancient Greece and Rome. With a B.A. in history and literature from the University of Michigan and a doctorate from the University of Sussex in England, his deep knowledge and passion for historical study are evident in his engaging courses.
The History of Ancient Rome
(Sept. 9 – Dec. 16, Jan. 13 – May 12) $575 per semester/$1,100 full year
Art History 101: Western Art from the Ancient Greeks to the Present
(Sept. 9 – Dec. 16, Jan. 13 – May 12) $575 per semester/$1,100 full year
Dr. Steve Cox earned his Ph.D. in U.S. History from the University of New Hampshire and has taught at several universities, including Indiana University and Ball State University. His extensive experience includes roles as Senior Historian at Conner Prairie and vice president for the Indiana Historical Society, where he managed collections, conservation, and public programs.
American History: From Settlement to the Present
(Aug. 19 – Dec. 16, Jan. 13 – May 12) $550 per semester/$1,000 full year
Advanced Seminar on American Local History
(Aug. 22 – Dec. 12, Jan. 16 – May 8) $475 per semester/$900 full year
Family History
(Aug. 29 – Dec. 19, Jan. 23 – May 15) $475 per semester/$900 full year
Bryan C. Gersbeck is a writer, historian, and cartographer with a rich background in history and current events. After graduating from the University at Albany, he transitioned from academia to writing, working out of CoLab in Goshen, New York. His extensive travels and deep understanding of various cultures enrich his approach to teaching history.

Sixth Grade: The American Revolution and the Republic

Seventh Grade: World History: Settlements to 1500
(Aug. 21 – Dec. 18, Jan. 15 – May 14) $550 per semester/$1,000 full year
Eighth Grade: World History: 1500 to the Present
(Aug. 21 – Dec. 18, Jan. 15 – May 14) $550 per semester/$1,000 full year

Fall 2024 courses are underway, but it’s not too late to sign up! Recordings of the class meetings will be available throughout the semester for students who need to catch up or revisit material.
