New Workshop: Storytelling with Puppets!
From the Muppets to Sesame Street and even Lamb Chop, some of the most beloved and prolific storytellers have reached their audiences through puppets. The magic of making an inanimate object come to life is a unique skill that presents its own opportunities for storytelling.
In the workshop Storytelling with Puppets, students will gain a basic understanding of puppet storytelling (as opposed to puppet shows). The instructor will explain and demonstrate how to create voices and facial expressions while storytelling with puppets and will perform at least two folk stories with animal puppets to help students understand the basic concepts of a puppet story. Students will be actively involved in the learning process and will be invited to share a puppet story of their own on the last day.
Students will need to have at least one animal hand puppet (any size), paper and pencils, and an assortment of colored pencils or markers in order to participate in the workshop.
WHEN: Live classes will take place on five consecutive Fridays: Jan. 27, Feb. 3, Feb. 10, Feb. 17, and Feb. 24, at 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Note that these classes may meet for more than an hour each session.
