Advanced Seminar on American Local History
- Instructor Dr. Steve Cox
- Code AH49
- Student Ages 14–18
- Term Spring Semester 2024
- Day Thursday
- Time 7:00 P.M.
THIS IS THE SECOND HALF OF A TWO-SEMESTER COURSE.
This seminar is an introduction to the study of local history. Understanding local history often presents challenges because there are few good local history books. The scarcity of local histories also offers an opportunity for students to investigate and write an account of where they live.
The first few weeks of the seminar will emphasize methods and sources for writing local history. Students will then work with the instructor to identify a topic they want to pursue and begin collecting information leading to a final project or paper.
