This course will introduce students to important themes, artists, and concepts in art history, from the prehistoric area through the Renaissance. Students will learn how to view, critique, and discuss contemporary artworks. Each live class will include a lesson, presentation, and class discussion. Students will be required to do drawings for homework in the style of the lesson for that week. No previous drawing experience is required, and students are graded on understanding of the content, not on skill.

Live Classes: Wednesdays, 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time, from the week of August 14th to the week of December 11th

Student Expectations: Students will be expected to keep their video on, participate in the class discussions, and complete the homework assignments.

Student Support: The instructor is available via email.

Feedback/Assessment: Students will be graded on their understanding of the content, not on their art skills.

Materials/Supplies: Students will need a notebook for writing notes and a 10”x12” sketchbook.
