Classical Logic II

THIS IS A ONE-SEMESTER COURSE.

If your child enjoyed Classical Logic I, this course is the natural follow-up! Students will build on their introduction to logical systems by mastering the more complex rules of propositional logic. They will learn how to construct truth tables to evaluate any formal argument, and they will exercise creativity in drafting their own formal proofs. Taken in combination with Classical Logic I, this course is excellent preparation for any subject requiring rules-based reasoning, whether in the STEM fields or in a formal debate setting.

Class Meetings: Tuesdays, 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time
Dates: January 14 – May 6

Student Expectations: Students will complete weekly readings and logic exercises.

Student Support: The instructor is available by email.

Feedback/Assessment: Students will be assigned weekly graded exercises and will receive detailed feedback on errors and successes.

Materials/Supplies: The instructor will supply all materials, including short readings.

Prerequisites: Students should have taken the course Classical Logic I or its equivalent.
