Climate Change Workshop: Science and Solutions (Aug. 5-7)
- Instructor Edith Katz
- Code ENV72W
- Student Ages 9–14
- Term Summer Workshops 2025
- Day Tuesday–Thursday
- Time 7:00 P.M.
This workshop will introduce students to the main scientific facts of climate change. What is it exactly? What is causing it? What are the major earth systems that affect our climate, how do they interact, and how are they being affected by the root causes? What are climate tipping points, and what do they portend?
After this introduction to the basic science, the focus will turn to the solution side of the problem. Using a climate simulator developed by MIT, students can propose different scenarios by playing with the various influential factors to see how they affect climate change progression or regression. They will be able to observe in real time how climate change may or may not be resolved under a variety of inputs. By the end of the workshop, they will have gained insight into the ideas and strategies that can help resolve this existential issue.
Class Meetings: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time
Dates: August 5th, 6th, 7th
