THIS IS THE SECOND HALF OF A TWO-SEMESTER COURSE.

In this course, students will using Scratch, a block-based visual programming language, to build projects such as games, simulations, and dialogues. They will then progress to HatchXR, a more professional language used to build, code, and explore creations in virtual reality or augmented reality. Finally, they will learn to create mobile applications for both Android and iOS using Thunkable, a platform that allows people to build their own apps.

Class Meetings: Fridays, 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time
Fall Semester: August 18 – December 15, 2023
Spring Semester:
January 12 – May 10, 2024

Student Expectations: Students are expected to apply the concepts they learn in class to various assignments and projects that they will present during subsequent class meetings.

Student Support: The instructor is available via email.

Feedback/Assessment: Students will receive ongoing feedback from the instructor on the projects they present in class.

Materials: Students will need a desktop or laptop computer. This course cannot be taken on a smartphone or tablet. The first class meeting will be dedicated to ensuring that students are prepared with the appropriate software/tools, all of which are free; specific instructions will be sent to each student before the course begins.
