Latin Is FUNdamental!

Latin is FUN and fundamental! It’s fundamental because it’s the basis for a complete understanding of English and the Romance languages, but it’s also just plain fun to explore the language of the ancient civilization that infused so much of its culture into Western societies today.

In this course, students will explore the foundations of Western civilization through the lens of Latin words and their English derivatives; sentence structure and word use; connections to French, Italian, and Spanish; and interesting anecdotes from Roman history. The course provides a preliminary taste of the riches of the Latin language.
