Public Speaking and Presentation Skills (Ages 13-18)

THIS IS A ONE-SEMESTER COURSE.

This interactive course is specifically designed for kids to help them develop public speaking skills and enhance their confidence by teaching them essential presentation techniques. Topics include audience analysis and handling stage fright; choosing the subject and preparing the speech; body language; tone, pitch, and pause; debating; and effective use of presentation software such as Google Slides. The course will include practice sessions so students can practice what they’re learning.

Live Classes: Tuesdays, 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time, from the week of August 14th to the week of December 11th

Student Expectations: Active participation by each student is required.

Student Support: The instructor is available via email.

Feedback/Assessment: Students will receive feedback on their presentations to help make them more effective.

Materials: This course requires students to have a properly functioning microphone and camera in order to give their practice presentations during the live classes. Students will also need to have Google Slides, which is available to download for free. Please have it installed before the first class begins.
