Summer Book Club: STEM Stories!

THIS IS A FOUR-DAY WORKSHOP.

Do you love discussing your favorite books with friends? Join the Summer Book Club for a series of fun and friendly conversations about middle-grade fiction. This summer we’ll be reading three books that mix friendship and adventure with STEM subjects such as space and math. After our initial meeting, we’ll meet each week to talk about characters, themes, and the author’s choices, sharing our opinions and thinking deeply about the questions that each novel generates.

Live Classes: Thursdays at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time, June 2nd, 9th, 16th, and 23rd

Materials/Supplies: The selected books are all geared toward readers ages 8-12 and are available as eBooks and as audiobooks. Parents should read reviews to make sure the content is right for their child. Students are expected to finish each book in advance of the scheduled meeting.

The books for this summer are See You in the Cosmos by Jack Cheng, The Miscalculations of Lightning Girl by Stacy McAnulty, and The Mulberry Project by Linda Sue Park.
