THIS IS A TWO-SEMESTER COURSE.
This course focuses on the geography and history of the Western Hemisphere but also introduces students to different cultures by looking at past civilizations. Students will examine the globe and investigate the layout of the natural environment. They will gain an understanding of how people live in different natural surroundings by learning about how communities are formed.
The students will also discuss the United States and how its citizenship is important. They will study diverse American landmarks, symbols, documents, and important historical figures. By examining the ways in which cultures form languages, religions, holidays, and folktales, we can better understand other people’s ways of life. At the end of the course, the students will develop questions about a world community.
