THIS IS A TWO-SEMESTER COURSE.

This will be a physical and cultural geography course. Students will explore every continent and major body of water in the world, learning all of the national capitals and all of the oceans and rivers. They will pause on great writers, creators, thinkers, composers, and artists. They will learn what many major cities look like and will be able to recognize them in photos. The course will be rich with maps, including blank maps that the students will be challenged to know. Emphasis will be on the richness and diversity of the world and on the cultural understanding, tolerance, and appreciation that flows from a knowledge of the world.

Class Meetings: Mondays, 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time
Fall Semester: September 9 – December 16, 2024
Spring Semester:
January 13 – May 12, 2025

Student Expectations: Students will be expected to learn the language of continents and nations, the courses of rivers and oceans, and much of the culture and history of the world. There will be homework and tests of the geographical knowledge.

Feedback/Assessment: Student work will be graded and returned. There will be a report card for each semester.
