Learn with Royal Fireworks this Spring
The new year is upon us, and it’s time to think back over your child’s 2018 educational experience. Did she learn as much as you had anticipated? Did he look forward to his classes? Was there excitement during the learning process? If the answer to any of these questions is no, you have options.
The academy for academic excellence, the Royal Fireworks Online Learning Community, is set to begin its 2019 spring semester. We are offering courses in language arts, creative writing, foreign language, philosophy, and history. The first class begins on January 14, but fear not: there is still time to register!

All six complete-level courses are taught by the acclaimed Michael Clay Thompson himself. This is a unique opportunity; no matter where they live, children can learn from a great teacher and have fun along the way. This is the second half of the year-long courses, but new students are being accepted. Please call our office at 845-726-4444 to discuss your child’s situation before enrolling.
These courses were a huge success this past fall. A highlight was an optional national writing contest, in which our students received five of nine possible awards, taking first place in both the high school and elementary school divisions! Three of the fall semester students have been invited to write for publication. We are again offering three levels of instruction, as well as a tutor-only option.
These courses, taught by Myriam Borges Thompson, are a great way to learn a new language from a native speaker, high-level scholar, and accomplished teacher whose fun attitude and sense of humor bring laughter to the classes. This is the second half of the year-long courses, but new students are being accepted. Please call our office at 845-726-4444 to discuss your child’s situation before enrolling.
Ingrid Klass, whose delightful books offer an exciting introduction to Eastern philosophy, will lead youngsters in a quest for happiness, where they will learn how various Eastern philosophers each found different paths to inner contentment. This is a philosophy course, not a religion course. See course description.
Thomas Kemnitz is offering an online history course on ancient Greece. The course will look at the Classical Age in Greece, one of the greatest periods in all of human history. The class will be enlivened by a selection of images from an archive of more than 100,000 photos of remnants of the ancient Greek world. See course description.
We haven’t forgotten you! If you want to branch out into another language, “Spanish Salsa: A Flavorful Recipe for Adults Who Want to Learn Spanish for Fun” is an entertaining approach to learning Spanish. See course description.
