A Look Ahead to Basic Concepts of Number Theory
Numbers are an interesting topic in and of themselves, and it is important for children to develop number sense that will help them in many aspects of their life, whether they’re going to do advanced mathematics or simply balance a checkbook. With an emphasis on practical applications, this course offers a range of problems to make it easy for children to understand the implications of number theory. It is designed to provide an introduction to the subject, a chance for your child to get a jump on the math that he or she will be doing in the upcoming year.
This course will offer a problem-solving strategy approach to topics in number theory, including primes and composites, multiples and divisors, prime factorization and its uses, base numbers, modular arithmetic, divisibility rules, and linear congruences.
This course is set for the appropriate level of difficulty for children who are in the eighth grade.
Live Classes: Tuesdays, 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time, from June 2nd to July 28th. Students unable to attend a live class will be able to access a recording of the class.
