Basic Concepts of Pre-Algebra

This course is designed to help children retain and enhance the math learning that went on all year until school closed. It is an opportunity for them to work with a creative, flexible, and gentle teacher who has countless methods for engaging young minds to grasp and retain mathematical concepts.
The course teaches students the necessary problem-solving strategies that will enable them to solve algebraic equations. Topics include set, numeration, operations, pre-algebra, pre-geometry, measurement, and probability and statistics. The course will cover a wide variety of areas: primes and divisors, fractions, equations and inequalities, decimals, ratios and proportions, unit conversions and rates, percentages, square roots, geometric shapes, statistics, and counting and elementary probability.
This course is set for the appropriate level of difficulty for children who are in the fifth grade.
