Debate Workshop C
|Term||Special Winter Session 2020-2021|
|Instructor||Dr. Sharon Kaye|
In this workshop, students will learn about the history of the Lincoln-Douglas debates and how the tradition has continued, including debate format, philosophical etiquette, and common fallacies to avoid. They will be assigned to a team and given a role to play. They will need to do their research and construct their arguments on their own. On the second and third days, they will hold the debates. Each debate will take thirty minutes, with fifteen minutes at the beginning for final preparations and fifteen minutes at the end for evaluation. The students will debate the following resolutions:
- Selfishness is a virtue.
- God exists.
