Introduction to Statistics
This is a one-semester course.
This course is for students who have completed the Counting and Probability course and want to continue on with a course in elementary statistics. Topics include measures of central tendency, standard deviation, and data organization techniques, including various graphical representations of data, as well as binomial probability. In addition, there will be several sessions on the normal distribution and how it used to interpret data and make probability predictions. As part of those discussions, students will be introduced to confidence intervals and hypothesis testing, as well as the Central Limit Theorem. The course will also include discussions on correlation and regression analysis.
This course is set for the appropriate level of difficulty for children who would be in the seventh to the ninth grade if they were in a public school.
Live Classes: Wednesdays, 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time, from the week of January 10th to the week of May 9th. Students unable to attend a live class will be able to access a recording of the class.
