This is the second half of a two-semester course that began in Fall 2020.

Numbers are an interesting topic in and of themselves, and it is important for children to develop number sense that will help them in many aspects of their life, whether they’re going to do advanced mathematics or simply balance a checkbook. With an emphasis on practical applications, this course offers a range of problems to make it easy for children to understand the implications of number theory.

This course will offer a problem-solving strategy approach to topics in number theory, including primes and composites, multiples and divisors, prime factorization and its uses, base numbers, modular arithmetic, divisibility rules, and linear congruences.

This course is set for the appropriate level of difficulty for children who would be in the eighth grade if they were in a public school.

Live Classes: Thursdays, 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time, from January 14th to May 13th. Students unable to attend a live class will be able to access a recording of the class.

Student Support: The instructor is available via email.

Materials: Students will need the book Introduction to Number Theory (available at https://artofproblemsolving.com).
