This course teaches students the necessary problem-solving strategies that will enable them to solve algebraic equations. Topics include set, numeration, operations, pre-algebra, pre-geometry, measurement, and probability and statistics. During the year, the course will cover a wide variety of areas: primes and divisors, fractions, equations and inequalities, decimals, ratios and proportions, unit conversions and rates, percentages, square roots, geometric shapes, statistics, and counting and elementary probability.
This course is set for the appropriate level of difficulty for children who would be in the fifth grade if they were in a public school. While the list of topics may seem daunting, the purpose of the course is to ensure in a gentle way that students are able to succeed with algebra.
