This course will examine the United States Constitution and explore the history behind the document. Students will learn about the various articles in the document and why they have important ramifications on our state and federal governments.

The formation of our government came out of the revolution against Britain. The U.S. Constitution was written to create a unified system of equal states while balancing various issues through debate and compromise. Students will discuss answers to the following questions: What does the Constitution say about creating government? Why does the Constitution allow for changes to be made? How do changes get proposed, and what process do they take? What are the intentions of the Bill of Rights? Students will review cases in which the Constitution and the amendments were challenged and how those challenges affected the law.

Live Classes: Fridays, 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time, from January 15th to May 14th
