The Royal Fireworks Online Learning Community‘s fall semester begins next week, and we’re excited about the diverse lineup of courses that we’re offering! We provide both single-semester courses and full-year courses that span Fall 2020 and Spring 2021, and it’s not too late to sign up.

Michael Clay Thompson is offering all seven levels of his MCT language arts curriculum, and this year he’s also added Level 8—a special treat for advanced students. Allen Gross is providing instruction in a variety of mathematics topics, with courses for students who enjoy math and courses for students who don’t—but who may just change their mind after Allen works with them. Dr. Rachel McAnallen is also offering a math course for young gifted children that promises to be a joyful learning experience. We have an interesting array of science courses that will be both fascinating and fun, as well as multiple history courses that span a wide range of time periods and areas of focus. Dr. Myriam Borges Thompson offers many levels of Spanish instruction, and Dr. Frances Spielhagen teaches Latin to youngsters interested in learning that language. There are courses in both Western and Eastern philosophy and creative writing, all of which will appeal to students who want to learn more about themselves and the world around them. Students interested in design will enjoy the course in architecture (a returning favorite), as well as the course in the history of fashion, which includes the political, economic, and social connections between the world and the fashion trends that are shaped by it.

New this year is an option for independent study with several of our instructors, and more will be added as we finalize details. If your child needs or simply wants one-on-one time with a high-level expert in his or her field, we now provide that—a critically valuable offering for children who seek to pursue knowledge at greater depths and breadths than what they can receive from typical group instruction. Do not miss the opportunity to have your child individually instructed to develop knowledge and expertise in areas of interest!

Our Online Learning Community has grown substantially, and we’re thrilled at the positive feedback we’re getting from our students and their parents. We know that this year in particular, online learning is a critical part of many children’s educational journeys, and we’re honored to be a part of that for so many students.
