Aesop's Fables: Books about Reading, Writing, and Thinking: Dyslexia Versions

Aesop's Fables: Books about Reading, Writing, and Thinking: Dyslexia Versions Series Cover

Aesop's Fables are timeless classics, and Royal Fireworks Press is pleased to offer them in a format that makes them easily accessible to young children. The fables—forty-four in all—are divided among four volumes, and each one includes not just the fables themselves but also important vocabulary and additional pages of activities for children to complete. Although we offer these books in a standard font (click here to view those books), we are proud to provide them in a special dyslexia-friendly font, which can help to make them more accessible to some children with reading disorders so that they, too, can enjoy the fables that have entertained children for generations.

The activities in the four volumes, designed by Dr. Kathryn T. Hegeman, are varied and engaging, and they provide children with opportunities to think about the stories in different ways. They emphasize reading, writing, and thinking, as well as life skills, values, decision making, visual interpretation, and creative expression. Children draw pictures, color images, write sentences to answer questions, and complete fun activities, such as writing how many words they can make from another word, or filling in blanks to complete a story, or listing synonyms or antonyms, and more. The variety in the activities provides something for every child.

The reading level of the stories increases from 2.1 in Volume I to 4.3 in Volume IV. The laminated books measure 8-1/2 inches by 11 inches.

Read Cathy Duffy's review, in which she says: "These four delightful workbooks offer an approach to language arts for children that is more child-friendly than most workbooks."
