Bully Frog Teaching Stories

Bully Frog Teaching Stories Series Cover

The Bully Frog Program is a national bullying prevention program named for the award-winning children’s book on bullying prevention. It has been presented to more than 250,000 students in schools nationwide. For homeschoolers, we are offering the student book and coloring book that are used in the school programs.

Bully Frog is the story of young frogs in the town of Lily Pond during their first day in Leapfrog Elementary School. Bully Frog wreaks havoc on the lives of two youngsters, and soon the adults step in to help remedy the situation. However, it is basically the students who must solve the problem by becoming proactive about caring, acting responsibly, and being inclusive.

Forlorn Frog's Fantastic Valentine's Day is a part of the Bully Frog anti-bullying series. In this story, the students at Leapfrog Elementary School come up with schemes and gift ideas to make every student feel included on Valentine's Day. They come to the realization that empathy means positive caring: showing kindness and consideration to one another, treating everyone equally and with respect. It is a lively, illustrated program, and the varied characters in the class learn at an early age the meaning of empathy.

Bullying is a world-wide phenomenon. One third of all children in the United States—more than 5.7 million—are estimated to be involved in bullying as bullies, targets of bullies, or both.

The Bully Frog Program is a national bullying prevention program named for the award-winning children’s book on bullying prevention. The uniqueness of Bully Frog is that it begins in nursery school and continues through the eighth grade. It has been presented to more than 250,000 students in schools nationwide.

The Bully Frog Teaching Stories are important stories that will enlighten youngsters at their most impressionable age. Set in Leapfrog Elementary School, they are simply told, with many class activities on separate cards in the teacher packages. Bully Frog addresses issues of bullying from four points of view: the victims, the onlookers, the school, and the bully (who needs to be repatriated into the group and able to channel his strengths productively). Forlorn Frog's Valentine's Day teaches the meaning of empathy, with the students learning to care for one another's feelings.

Bully Frog won a Legacy Book Award for outstanding books from the Texas Association for the Gifted and Talented.

The authors, Roni Benson and Ginger Lieberman, are authorities on preventing youth violence. They are co-directors of LIPEN, a professional education network in New York. They have been conducting workshops for school staff, students, and parents for the past fifteen years. To book them for a Bully Frog anti-bullying workshop or presentation, including one on cyberbullying and internet safety, contact Dr. T.M. Kemnitz, Royal Fireworks Press.

The Bully Frog books and poster are lavishly illustrated by Chris Dodge, and the teacher materials are written by Myrna Kemnitz.
