Full Circle Science by Jen Seron

Full Circle Science is an interdisciplinary program intended to give young children a strong science background, the ability to utilize the scientific framework in everyday life, and an opportunity for hands-on experiences that will enable them to observe, appreciate, and personally connect to the natural world. The program promotes lifelong learning within a respectful, positive, inclusive environment.
Jen Seron, an experienced teacher, developed the program as a result of teachers asking for great, easy-to-teach science lessons, as well as relief from time-consuming record keeping. The program is truly interdisciplinary, encompassing all areas of science, including chemistry, physics, life, earth, and space science; it also makes connections with other subjects, such as technology, engineering, math, language arts, social studies, the arts, physical education, social-emotional development, and more.
The lessons proceed step by step for the instructor so that even parents without a science background can conduct meaningful, fun, and relevant learning experiences. There are alignment checklists for each lesson so that instructors can quickly and easily document compliance with federal and state standards. The arts elements include book lists and recommendations for songs and games that children can play to help solidify their learning. There are also portraits of significant people who have contributed to science from Middle Eastern and Asian countries, as well as from the West.
From her experiences teaching in the New York City public schools under the current state and national educational standards, Jen Seron realized how necessary her curriculum was. For about five years, she was involved in educational outreach and advocacy with AGATE (Advocacy for Gifted and Talented Education) at the New York state level as the legislative co-chair. Through her advocacy, she learned "how children, families, teachers, and districts were suffering within the current educational paradigm. The Full Circle Science program exists because all children deserve to optimize and actualize their potential through education."
Jen Seron is a homeschooling parent and experienced teacher who lives in New York City. She has worked across all sectors and has a diverse educational background that includes a research-based M.S. in plant sciences (horticulture), where she specialized in ecophysiology; a study in climate change on rice for the Environmental Protection Agency; a B.A. in philosophy; and an M.F.A. in visual communication (illustration) from the School of Visual Arts in New York.
