THIS IS A TWO-SEMESTER COURSE.

This is a hands-on, project-based course for students who want to explore how AI works and how to use it for various purposes. Students will learn the fundamentals of AI, including machine learning, generative AI, and prompt engineering while gaining experience with Python and coding skills. They’ll build their own AI chatbot, customize its personality and memory, create a PDF assistant, develop an AI-powered web app, and explore how AI agents can complete multi-step tasks.  They’ll also learn how to use GitHub, manage their code, and deploy an AI project online.

Class Meetings: Mondays, 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time
Fall Semester: October 12 – December 14, 2026
Spring Semester:
January 11 – May 10, 2027

Student Expectations: Students will work on projects during the live class meetings and between meetings as homework.

Student Support: The instructor will be available during the class meetings for questions and between classes via email.

Feedback/Assessment: The instructor will provide coaching and will assess all student work, but students will be able to see for themselves if their projects work.

Materials/Supplies: Students will need to have a computer for this course; a tablet will not be sufficient.
