This is the grammar book in Level 1 of the MCT language arts curriculum.

Description

Grammar Island introduces, in a simple fashion, the full four-level grammar analysis of (1) parts of speech, (2) parts of the sentence, (3) phrases, and (4) clauses. Using color to reinforce the lessons, the book offers grammar in child-friendly ways, with an array of strategies to make sophisticated material dynamic and fun. Each page focuses on a single concept, and the teaching approach is to read together with the students, talk about the concepts, ask questions, refer back to the text, and respond to questions before venturing further. This book will delight children just beginning grammar.

NOTE: This book makes extensive use of color to convey meaning. Although it is possible to enjoy the eBook on a black-and-white eReader, we recommend that purchasers access the eBook on eReaders that display in full color.

The Practice Island workbook provides an extra 100 practice sentences for four-level analysis. (See below.)

Video Book: The video book option provides purchasers with a series of full-color, narrated videos—one for each section of the book. This option does not include a paperback edition of the book. Note, too, that there is no video version of the instructor manual and that all end-of-section assessments and answer keys are available only through the paperback and eBook versions. As such, we offer The Grammar Island Package (see below) in which the student video book is paired with a paperback or eBook instructor manual, providing purchasers with everything they need to teach this book successfully.
