Dr. Gail N. Herman

Gail N. Herman, Ph.D., is a professional storyteller, college educator, and teaching artist in schools. As a former elementary-school teacher and a coordinator of a K-8 school-wide enrichment program, Gail’s goal is to infuse storytelling, movement, and mime arts into the curriculum. She received her doctorate at the University of Connecticut in Curriculum and Instruction: Talent Development and also has degrees in speech/theater and elementary education. In addition to having taught at several universities and authored or coauthored a number of books, she has served on the Boards of the National Storytelling Network (NSN) and the Association for the Education of Gifted Underachieving Students (AEGUS). She also presents “Hearing Between the Lines,” a workshop in which participants use folk instruments to awaken musical intelligence and in-depth meaning in folk literature and poetry.
