THIS IS A TWO-SEMESTER COURSE.

In this course, students will use the unit circle to extend the domain of trigonometric functions to include all real numbers. They will develop understanding of the radian measure of an angle, graph trigonometric functions, and derive and apply the Pythagorean identity.

The students will then extend their study of the unit circle and trigonometric functions. They will create inverses of trigonometric functions and use the inverse functions to solve trigonometric equations that arise in real-world problems while discovering trigonometric graphs with their characteristics. By the end of the course, the students will be able to relate radians, degrees, and coordinate points in relationship with the trigonometric functions, both algebraically and using technology.

Spring Semester: January 13 – May 12, 2026

Student Expectations: Students will be given one assignment weekly (practice skills, research, or a mini quiz).

Materials/Supplies: It is highly recommended that students have a TI-36X Pro Scientific Calculator for this course.

Prerequisites: Students should have a solid understanding of algebra and geometry prior to taking this course.
