Young Joseph LaBarge dreamed of being a trapper, so when he was hired by the American Fur Company, he was excited by the opportunities that awaited. But the manager at his post on the Missouri River in Nebraska kept Joe busy doing menial jobs, and Joe was frustrated that his dream lay just out of reach for so long.
