THIS IS A TWO-SEMESTER COURSE.

This course is designed to introduce students, first to the science of climate change through a method of inquiry, and second to the myriad solutions that can reset the Earth’s future climate. The lectures and presentations will be visual and graphic and will include age-appropriate videos. Students will develop a keen understanding of climate change, its impact on the planet, and the range of actions needed to reverse climate change and promote sustainable practices to restore the Earth.

The first part of this course will offer a deep dive into the basic science of climate change. What is it? What are the impacts? What is a tipping point? The second part will empower kids with the knowledge and skills to understand climate solutions. Students will be able to engage with a climate simulator tool from MIT that represents a variety of activities to reverse global warming, and in doing so, they can create their own unique scenario to help save the planet.
