THIS IS A TWO-SEMESTER COURSE.
In Spanish 3, students will build toward naturally speaking Spanish by crafting sentences and participating in conversations about everyday life. They will become more fluent at listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Spanish. They’ll also improve their understanding of the culture through reading, conversation, and presentation. As they dive deeper, they’ll face more challenging and immersive communication experiences.
In this course, students will:
- Progress with advanced vocabulary, grammar structures, and pronunciation, as well as with their understanding of the Spanish culture
- Spontaneously generate sentences to ask and answer questions about everyday topics
- Focus on understanding and utilizing more complex grammar forms and expanding their vocabulary
- Communicate primarily in Spanish during class
At the end of this course, students should have a Low to Mid Intermediate level of language proficiency.

Class Meetings: Wednesdays, 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time
Fall Semester: September 16 – December 16, 2026
Spring Semester: January 13 – May 12, 2027
Student Expectations: Students are expected to participate actively in class, to communicate primarily in Spanish, and to complete all class assignments and homework on time. They should also demonstrate consistent effort, engagement with the course content, and a willingness to take risks in using Spanish for continued language growth.
Student Support: The instructor is available via email.
Feedback/Assessment: Students will receive constructive feedback on their assignments. The instructor will be available to answer questions and to provide additional support as necessary.
Materials/Supplies: Students will need the following materials:
– A notebook
– Index cards
– Writing utensils
– A printer
– Headphones
Prerequisites: Students should have completed a Spanish 2 course or have the equivalent of that level of knowledge.
