Description

The Charlie Cliché novels are based on the adventures of “military brat” Elmo Reginald Burfoot II, nicknamed Charlie Cliché. Charlie has traveled with his parents all over the world and has had to learn how to fit in at new schools without being bullied or ridiculed for his birth name. The best method he has found is to become a storyteller.

The three novels in this series cover segments of Charlie’s freshman, sophomore, and junior years, respectively, and each one profiles the interesting and unusual people Charlie is fortunate enough to befriend along the way. The characters demonstrate honesty, loyalty, decency, intelligence, and perseverance, as well as effective problem-solving skills against an array of circumstances and hardships, ranging from poverty to bullying to wrestling with the struggle of knowing what’s right in a complicated situation. And from each of them, Charlie learns lessons in friendship and honor.

But as much as these are feel-good stories, they’re often witty and fun as well. Charlie, it turns out, can spin a pretty good yarn, and these stories are among his “oft-told tales” for a reason.

Note: Although these books progress as a series, each one is written to stand alone, so readers can choose how many of Charlie’s adventures to go on with him.
