As the United States grew, the need to get information quickly from one part of the country to other parts grew as well. Mail traveled by stage, but it wasn’t fast enough. So William Russell convinced his partners to invest in a new idea: a living chain of mail carriers. The Pony Express was born, and it was a masterful achievement.
