For students who love history, research, and storytelling, Royal Fireworks Online Learning offers something truly special. Dr. Steve Cox, a seasoned historian and engaging instructor, guides students through deep, hands-on explorations of the past, inviting them to uncover the stories that shaped their families, their towns, and their world.

These are two-semester courses, but students are welcome to join in the spring semester because both of these courses focus on each student’s individual story, which need not take the full two semesters to explore. And because both seminars meet every other week, they’re ideal for motivated students who enjoy independent research and meaningful discussion.

Advanced Seminar on American Local History
Student Ages: 14–18
Class Meetings: Thursdays, 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time
(meets every other week)
Dates: January 15 – May 7, 2026
Cost: $475 for the spring semester
Course Highlights:
– Learn how to research and write compelling local histories.
– Explore primary sources, archives, and community records.
– Create an original project or paper on your own hometown.

Family History
Student Ages: 11–18
Class Meetings: Thursdays, 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time
(meets every other week)
Dates: January 22 – May 14, 2026
Cost: $475 for the spring semester
Course Highlights:
– Use census data, newspapers, and oral interviews to explore family stories.
– Discover how historical events shaped your ancestors’ lives.
– Complete a research paper or creative project that tells your family’s story.
