Royal Fireworks Online Learning is delighted to offer another semester of one of our most popular courses! This spring, students have the opportunity to experience a unique science course that blends history, culture, and hands-on scientific exploration. The Science of Ancient Egypt invites students to investigate the natural environment of one of history’s most important ancient civilizations, as well as the ingenuity of the people who lived there.
This course is designed to foster curiosity, critical thinking, and a love of science in young learners, with expert instructor Dr. David Purvis providing his signature academically engaging experience. Students have so much fun delving into all areas of this topic that they hardly notice how much they’re learning!
The Science of Ancient Egypt
Instructor: Dr. David Purvis

Class Meetings: Tuesdays, 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time
Dates: Jan. 13 – May 12, 2026

– Study the Nile River, the Sahara Desert, and the Egyptian environment.
– Learn about the area’s natural resources, such as natron, sand, and limestone.
– Explore methods of irrigation, growing crops, and bread-making.
– Investigate metals, jewelry, and the science behind glass and pottery.
– Learn about Egyptian animals, insects, and astronomy.
– Discover the tools/machines of ancient Egypt, pyramids, and mummification.
– Participate in hands-on activities, demonstrations, and experiments.
