Newly Released Books for Parents and Instructors!

In most reading programs, teachers follow a standard format: the students read a literary work, and the teacher asks questions designed to check for understanding—and often to ensure that the students actually did the reading. But at Royal Fireworks, we know that when the questioning stops there, the learning often does too.

That’s why we’re pleased to announce our newly released series for parents and teachers of students in kindergarten through the eighth grade: Guides to Creative Questioning for Children’s Literature.

Based on Bloom’s Taxonomy, this four-book series provides instructors with thoughtfully designed discussion questions for a wide range of beloved classic and contemporary children’s and young adult literature.

Bloom’s Taxonomy organizes learning into progressively higher levels of thinking. Students begin with the foundational skills of remembering, understanding, and applying information and then move into the more advanced thinking skills of analyzing, evaluating, and creating. The Guides to Creating Questioning books include questions that engage students at every level of this progression. Rather than simply checking whether students read the book, the questions in these guides encourage them to think deeply about literature, develop critical and creative thinking skills, and engage in meaningful discussion.
