Some subjects are both academically and culturally significant. As the second most spoken language in the United States and the fourth most spoken language in the world, Spanish is one of those subjects. But students who learn this widespread language don’t just build communication skills with people across the U.S. and the globe; they open doors to linguistic knowledge and deepen their understanding of the structures inherent in academic English.

This upcoming school year at Royal Fireworks Online Learning, students can learn the Spanish language with expert instructor Liz Contreras, a native of Venezuela with a master’s degree in education from Montclair State University in New Jersey and a Spanish teacher for more than two decades. Ms. Contreras welcomes students into both the language and the cultures of Spain and Latin American, giving children and teens the tools to speak, read, and write in Spanish. As they progress in their learning, students will use increasingly complex forms of grammar and expand their vocabulary, all while honing their pronunciation skills so that they can communicate with clarity and confidence.

Ms. Contreras is offering three levels of learning. All of the levels are open to students ages 7-18 so that students at any level of proficiency can take the course that they need to advance their learning, no matter how old they are.

Spanish 1
Class Meetings: Tuesdays, 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time
Dates: Sept. 15 – Dec. 15, 2026; Jan. 12 – May 11, 2027
Cost: $575 per semester/$1,100 for the full year
Course Highlights:
– Get a solid foundation in Spanish vocabulary and grammar.
– Develop speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.
– Study the cultures of Spain and Latin America.
– Receive constructive feedback on assignments to ensure proficiency.

Spanish 2
Class Meetings: Wednesdays, 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time
Dates: Sept. 16 – Dec. 16, 2026; Jan. 13 – May 12, 2027
Cost: $575 per semester/$1,100 for the full year
Course Highlights:
– Expand Spanish vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation skills.
– Engage in interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational methods of communication.
– Build proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in the Spanish language.
– Gain an understanding of the significance of Spanish-speaking cultures across the world.

Spanish 3
Class Meetings: Wednesdays, 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time
Dates: Sept. 16 – Dec. 16, 2026; Jan. 13 – May 12, 2027
Cost: $575 per semester/$1,100 for the full year
Course Highlights:
– Progress with advanced Spanish vocabulary, grammar structures, and pronunciation.
– Become proficient enough to engage in spontaneous conversations in Spanish.
– Develop a deeper understanding of Spanish cultures.
– Communicate primarily in Spanish during class, with real-time instructor feedback.
